Conditions of reproduction
The photographic archives of the Tridentine Diocesan Museum provides, upon request, photographic material related to the works it has in its custody. It is also delegated by the Archdiocese of Trento to authorize the release of digital images from the Diocesan Inventory database in accordance with the terms of the
Norms for the loan and photographic reproduction of church-owned cultural property.
Types of photographic material availableThe museum's photographic archive provides photographic material in digital format only.
Reproduction Rights
Images released for religious uses, dissertations or study purposes do not involve the payment of reproduction rights. In other cases, the following editorial uses will be distinguished:
- non-profit and limited edition publication (maximum 1000 copies) € 25 (excluding VAT)
- publications and editorial achievements not falling under the previous type € 50 (excluding VAT)
- promotional/commercial use € 100 (excluding VAT)
A fixed-term reproduction right is issued for one editorial use only. For each subsequent and/or further editorial use of images already in your possession, a new authorization is required.
Indication of source
For photographs provided by the museum, the following should be indicated: "Photographic Archive of the Tridentine Diocesan Museum." For those released from the Diocesan Inventory database, you should indicate: "Photographic Archive of the Tridentine Diocesan Museum, Diocesan Inventory."
Reproduction expenses
The applicant must pay the museum € 20 (excluding VAT) for each image requested, as reproduction expenses. An exception is made for reproductions issued for religious use, which will be given free of charge. Requests for dissertations are not subject to payment of reproduction expenses; however, a letter of introduction from the professor indicating the reasons for the research is required. If the requested material is not available in the photographic archive, the museum may have new shots taken by charging the applicant, according to the following fee schedule:
- 1st take – € 75 (excluding VAT)
- 2nd and 3rd takes – € 45 (excluding VAT) each
- 4th and 5th takes – € 40 (excluding VAT) each
- from 6th to 10th take – € 35 (excluding VAT) each
Alternatively, the applicant may obtain a scan from b/w photos of the work at the price of € 10 (excluding VAT) for each reproduction, or take the shots themselves, subject to an appointment to be arranged with the person in charge of the photographic archive (Dr. Domizio Cattoi, collezioni@mdtn.it). The applicant assumes responsibility for any damage to persons or property that may occur during the course of the work, providing full compensation, with no right of recourse against the museum. All digital files or negatives made by the client or his or her designee will be delivered as copies to the museum's photographic archive.
Payment
The amount relating to reproduction rights and/or fees must be paid in advance to the museum by bank transfer to be made to Intesa Sanpaolo, Via Mantova, Trento, Italy, IBAN IT58 V030 6901 8560 0001 1792 313; BIC BCITITMM. A copy of the payment receipt should be forwarded by e-mail to the museum (collezioni@mdtn.it). Requests will be processed by e-mail shipment only after proof of payment.
Responsibilities
The applicant agrees to:
- use the images in a manner consistent with the historical-artistic and religious value of the subjects filmed;
- agree with the person in charge of the photographic archive on the content of the captions;
- clearly specify on the publication the ownership of the reproduced property and the concession to reproduction;
- deliver a copy of the publication to the museum library;
Those who request photographic materials from the museum's photo archive are required to be familiar with and comply with these regulations. Failure to comply with the regulations, particularly regarding the assignment of reproduction rights, and untrue statements of intent at the time of request, are punishable by law.
